High Desert Master Composter Training
Free Master Composter Training
is scheduled for Saturday, June 23rd at Victor Valley College.
The training is sponsored by the
Cities of Adelanto and Victorville and the Town of Apple Valley
in cooperation with the Mojave Desert & Mountain Recycling
Authority. Attendees will spend a full day learning about backyard
composting techniques, worm composting, landscape design principals,
and desert plants. Lunch is provided. Pre-registration is required

Victorville Recycles Week 2008
Victorville Recycles Week 2007 was a huge success! There were 716 Poster entries, 47 “in-class” recycling presentations given to a total of 1,410 students, four recycling assemblies presented to approximately 2,100 students, and over 1,100 students and staff toured the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility. Several schools were surprised by the prize patrol to receive CASH awards!
-Find out how you can participate in a week full of recycling awareness, education, activities, and fun. Enter the Poster Contest and Recycle Sculpture Contest and compete for the Top CRV Award. Also, attend the MRF Open House on November 1st to obtain a coupon worth points for your school. Schools within Victorville city limits can compete to earn Recycle Week points to win CASH for their school. This event is sponsored by the City of Victorville and Burrtec Waste Industries.

Saturday, April 12, 2008 - 8 AM – 12 Noon
Community Clean Up and Recycling Day
The City of Yucaipa and Yucaipa Disposal, Inc. are pleased to sponsor a City Clean Up Day, FREE OF CHARGE, on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 8 AM to 12 noon! City of Yucaipa residents may dispose of household trash at the conveniently located drop-off site at the corner of California Street and Avenue "G". The local drop-off site will have containers for the following material categories: (1) trash and, (2) metals. Depending upon the type of material that you are disposing of, you will be directed to the appropriate container. To receive service by noon, please be in line no later than 11 AM - the temporary drop-off site will close promptly at 12:00 noon.
Cars, trailers and pickup trucks up to 3/4 ton will be allowed to drop off trash for FREE. (No trucks with trailers allowed.) However, if a load appears to be excessive or may require substantial time to dump and would create a backlog, you will be directed to the landfill. Appliances, such as washing machines, dryers and water heaters, will be accepted for recycling. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners MUST have COMPRESSORS REMOVED and FREON GAS DRAINED before they can be accepted for recycling. The removal MUST be completed by a licensed recycler and certified receipt indicating the removal MUST accompany ALL refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners being deposited.
TIRES, CRT's and/or HAZARDOUS WASTE MATERIALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THIS SITE ON SATURDAY, April 12. Special handling fees and State laws prohibit them from being deposited into the landfill. Therefore, they cannot be included in our Clean Up Day.
The San Timoteo Landfill will be OPEN Saturday, April 12 from 8 AM to 5 PM for FREE dumping! A valid California Driver's License showing residency in San Bernardino County is required. Restrictions apply. Date subject to change. Call Yucaipa Disposal at 909/797-9125 for more information.
Curbside Residential Bulky Item Service
Yucaipa Disposal provides curbside bulky item pickups to Yucaipa residential subscribers on your day of service during the 2nd week of February, May, August and November. Residents may schedule up to three pickups during the year (limit of three items per pickup).
Yucaipa Disposal also collects up to two CRT's (computer monitors and televisions) as part of the Bulky Item Service during a 12-month period. Bulky items shall not exceed one and one-half yards per collection or three-hundred pounds in weight. Program includes Mobilehome Parks. Call Yucaipa Disposal at 909/797-9125 to schedule your bulky item pickup. Customers must call at least one (1) week prior to scheduled service day. This is a curbside service; please remember to place your bulky item at curbside on your day of service by 6:00 AM.
City of Yucaipa Residential Curbside Waste Oil/Recycling Program
Grant funded by California Integrated Waste Management Board.
Residents must call Yucaipa Disposal at 909/797-9125 to request a Collection.
FREE curbside service takes place the first Tuesday of each month. Service will be scheduled according to the calls received from customers no later than the Friday prior to the designated service day.
Collection Day Guidelines:
- Customers must provide their own container. This container must be clear plastic and must have a secure lid.
- Waste oil must not be contaminated with any other type of fluid or material. Strictly waste oil from engines.
- Each customer will be limited to 2-gallons per month, in a container no larger than 3 gallons in size.
- Used waste oil filters will be accepted if they are drained and placed in a clear plastic bag or coffee can with secure lid.
Reasons for Refusal:
- Contamination, unacceptable container or excessive quantity of oil

FREE Mulch and Compost Program
The City of Yucaipa provides a FREE mulch and compost program to Yucaipa residents the first Saturday of each month. Residents can obtain this FREE mulch and compost just south of Oak Glen Road on 2nd Street beyond the City Yard (across the street from the Yucaipa Community Center). The facility is open to local residents on the first Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 12 noon and is adequately staffed to ensure the overall intent of the program meets the City’s objectives. The program operates as follows:
- Must be a Resident of Yucaipa
- Must Show Photo ID/Driver's License Proving Residency
- Not for Commercial Purposes / No Contractors
- This is a Self-Service Program
- 2 Cubic Yards per Vehicle Allowed. One Cubic Yard is Equal to six (6) 32-Gallon Trash Cans
- A Tarp is Recommended for Open Bed Trucks or Trailers
- Two (2) Visits Per Day Only
- First Come First Served
- City Reserves the Right to Refuse Service to Any Person
- City Reserves the Right to Close at any Time Due to Product Availability or Poor Weather Conditions
